Maji Safi, Elimu Bora
Access to safe and reliable water
Maji Safi, Elimu Bora Project improves access to safe and reliable water in rural schools through solar-powered borehole drilling and pumping systems. Many rural schools lack clean water, forcing students mostly girls to walk long distances to fetch water, which affects learning and school attendance.
The project drills sustainable groundwater boreholes and installs solar-powered pumping systems that use renewable energy to supply clean water directly within school compounds. This provides a reliable source of water for drinking, and sanitation creating a healthier and safer learning environment.
By using renewable solar energy, the system operates with minimal operational costs and zero carbon emissions, making it a long-term and climate-friendly solution. Access to clean water also supports school tree-planting and nutrition gardens.
Agropreneur Climate Initiatives
Agropreneur Climate Initiatives is a transformative project empowering smallholder farmers to turn climate challenges into economic opportunities through an agroforestry-based farming model focused on cassava and maize production. By integrating trees into farmlands, the initiative restores soil fertility, enhances climate resilience, and increases long-term farm productivity for rural communities.
A central pillar of the initiative are providing entrepreneurship development skills to smallholder farmers, reducing post-harvest losses through agroprocessing and value addition. Farmers are trained and equipped to process cassava and maize into durable, market-ready products, extending shelf life, minimizing waste, and significantly increasing farm incomes. This shift from raw production to value-added processing strengthens local food systems and unlocks new market opportunities.
By connecting agroforestry restoration with agribusiness development, the initiative nurtures a new generation of climate-smart agropreneurs especially youth and women who drive sustainable agriculture, create rural jobs, and contribute to a resilient green economy while safeguarding ecosystems for future generations.
Digital Lift Project
Strengthening climate education in rural schools.
Digital Lift Project strengthens climate education in rural schools by integrating digital learning with climate information systems. The project equips schools with computers, internet access, and digital learning tools that allow students and teachers to access real-time climate and environmental information.
Through these digital platforms, students learn about weather patterns, climate change, and sustainable farming practices, helping them understand how climate impacts food systems, water resources, and ecosystems. The project also introduces students to digital skills that prepare them for future opportunities while empowering them to become climate-conscious leaders in their communities.
By combining technology, education, and climate knowledge, the Digital Lift Project creates a generation of digitally skilled students who can use information and innovation to support climate resilience and sustainable development. It ensures rural schools are connected, informed, and actively participating in building a greener and more climate-resilient future.
